Toots is a cultural and secular space, open to everyone, and firmly opposed to all forms of discrimination.
The Toots Jazz Club was founded on the initiative of pianist Joachim Caffonnette, who wanted to create a true jazz club in the vibrant heart of Brussels — a place where music resonates until the early hours of the morning. Just like in New York and New Orleans… but with a touch of Brussels zwanze!
Established as a tribute to the Belgian jazz legend Jean-Baptiste “Toots” Thielemans, the club blends the spirit of Brussels with the festive tradition of the most vibrant music there is.
After making a name for itself by reviving a jazz club in the south of the city, the Toots Live association brought its unique atmosphere and high-level programming to Brussels’ Grand-Place in 2025, thanks to the support of ULB, the Centre d’Action Laïque, and the City of Brussels. Concerts and jam sessions fill its centuries-old walls five nights a week, welcoming passersby and chess players alike into a warm, unmistakably Brussels ambiance.

Two formats (see ticketing):
For paid concerts (Thursday to Sunday), you can book and pay online. Depending on the concert, you will either be seated with a great view of the stage or free to dance, with a few seats available for resting.
We mainly programme “mainstream” jazz, perfect for the atmosphere of a true jazz club: from early New Orleans jazz to today’s modern New York scene. We also feature swing, hard bop, funk, gypsy jazz, and themed evenings exploring different influences.
Most of the time, a video is available to give you a preview of the bands scheduled to perform.
And sometimes, we take a chance on young musicians we believe in. In those cases, no teaser, no label — just pure discovery. Come and listen to the talents of tomorrow!
Yes, the main concerts from Thursday to Sunday are ticketed (see ticketing page).
On Wednesdays, you contribute what you can (suggested donation: €5), and the late-night jams are free (with mandatory consumption).
🎶 Why an entrance fee?
Because our musicians are professional artists. Organizing a concert also requires significant resources: copyright fees, sound equipment, instrument maintenance, sound engineering, communication…
The entrance fee helps ensure a great experience for the audience and proper recognition of the artists’ work.
Yes! We have an excellent beer menu, talented cocktail mixologists, fine wines and champagnes, and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks so you can enjoy the jazz without a drop of alcohol.
Snacks available include dry sausages, cheese platters and quality crisps.
We work with the Haacht, De la Senne and Microbrasserie de la Flaque breweries, as well as the natural wine merchant Basin & Marot.
Of course! Our Sunday afternoon concerts are particularly family-friendly: they feature an acoustic atmosphere and start times that suit children’s schedules.
⚠️ After 10 pm, we prefer not to admit minors to the bar, for safety reasons and because we are a licensed premises.
We’re open six evenings a week, so availability is limited. But please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss the options!
Yes, the club is accessible at ground level, with no steps at the entrance or inside.
However, the club is located right in the city centre, and some of the cobbled streets in the surrounding area may be difficult for wheelchair users.
Please do not hesitate to contact us in advance if you require a special welcome or assistance - we will do our best to make access as easy as possible for you.
Yes! You’ll find a link to the application form in the footer of the website. We receive a lot of applications, and we do our best to consider everyone. Around 30% of the bands that apply are booked.
We continually aim for greater gender parity in our programming. Still now, relatively few projects are led by women or non-binary people. Our goal is to gradually increase the proportion of women and people from under-represented groups on stage to 35–40%, through sustained, long-term efforts. We are committed to our artistic integrity and refuse to book an artist solely on the basis of their gender or ethnic background. As Toots used to say, you listen to music with your ears, not with your eyes.
