Olivier Ker-Ourio Quartet • Exceptional concert
Olivier Ker Ourio (harm.) ; Mathis Cordier (g) ; Benoît Sourisse (ham. org.) ; André Charlier (dr)
Olivier Ker Ourio, originally from Réunion Island, is now regarded as one of the world’s leading harmonica players. He was recently voted Best Jazz Harmonica Player by the prestigious Jazz Magazine — a well-deserved recognition for a truly outstanding musician, on an instrument that is especially close to our hearts at Toots: the chromatic harmonica.
With a uniquely personal tone and a musical language shaped both by the great jazz tradition and by the rhythms of Réunion that filled his childhood, he stands as one of the very few true heirs to Toots, reaching an exceptional level of musicality and technical mastery.
For this concert, presenting his latest project “Life as It Is”, he is joined by a legendary rhythm section: André Charlier and Benoît Sourisse, arguably the most iconic drums/Hammond organ duo in European jazz history.
A rare and powerful concert — absolutely exceptional.
