LORD ROCHESTER • BRBC
Russ Wilkins (guitar, vocals), Saskia Holling (bass), Mike Goodwin (drums)
Lord Rochester, the stage name of Russ Wilkins — known from bands such as The Pop Rivets, The Milkshakes, Gruff Men, Len Bright Combo and The Wildebeests — returns with his unmistakable brand of stripped-down, rhythm-driven rock ’n’ roll.
Drawing inspiration from the maraca-powered shuffle of artists like Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and Jimmy Reed, Lord Rochester embraces the raw simplicity of sound and song, delivering a gritty, lo-fi take on rock ’n’ roll that stays close to its roots.
As Glasgow Night Out once described it: “perfectly pitched rock ’n’ roll at its purest, unadulterated, tartan sports jacket wearing, lo-fi, fiddletastic best.”
The band makes a welcome return to BRBC after recent tours across Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Spain, and following the release of their third album, “Mess Around.”
The evening will open with Midnight Mary, the BRBC house band.
