FURMI’S 6TET brings together a line-up as rare as it is exhilarating: a quartet of saxophones supported by bass and drums. Built primarily around original compositions, the group unfolds a generous, open and intensely vibrant music, freely drawing on a wide range of influences — from hard bop to funk, from gospel to classical music, from pop to folk traditions from around the world — and letting them resonate through a single language: that of jazz.
With FURMI’S 6TET, this diversity is far more than a simple patchwork of styles. It becomes a living substance, shaped by collective energy, the richness of timbre and a strong sense of groove. Writing is in constant dialogue with momentum, precision with spontaneity, and each voice finds its place within a sound that is at once dense, fluid and deeply inhabited.
Between the power of the horns, rhythmic drive and a gift for melody, the sextet offers music that refuses to choose between rigour and pleasure, between sophistication and generosity. A broad, colourful and borderless jazz, carried by a true compositional personality.
