Rick Margitza & The Joachim Caffonnette Trio • JAZZ LEGEND
Joachim Caffonnette (p) ; Rick Margitza (ts) ; Jasen Weaver (b) ; Armando Luongo (dr)
IMPORTANT ANNONCEMENT
We have just learned today at 2:00 PM that Rick Margitza has encountered a scheduling conflict. He is performing this Saturday in Finland and thought he would be flying to Helsinki on Saturday morning. In reality, he must leave tomorrow morning and, after exploring several options, he informed us that he is forced to cancel tomorrow’s concert with Joachim Caffonnette’s trio.
Rick immediately called Joachim to propose a solution: to be replaced tomorrow evening by French-American saxophonist Plume and to return on August 28 to perform at the club with Joachim.
Plume is considered one of the finest alto saxophone talents in Europe. A former classmate of Walter Smith, Christian Scott, and Ambrose Akinmusire at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston – all of whom speak highly of him – he regularly performs alongside Gregory Hutchinson or Joe Sanders. During his years in New York, he shared the stage with, among others, Mulgrew Miller, Roy Hargrove, Logan Richardson, Benny Green, and Justin Faulkner… just to name a few from his impressive career!
If you hold a ticket for this Friday, July 25, here are your options:
- Attend tomorrow’s concert as planned, with Plume as special guest
- Come on August 28 for Rick Margitza’s concert

An exceptional evening with a true tenor saxophone legend. In addition to having collaborated with McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Maria Schneider, and Eddie Gomez, Rick Margitza spent two years on stage with Miles Davis, with whom he recorded a live album at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1989. A happy coincidence: it’s also the birth year of pianist Joachim Caffonnette, who invites him to join his trio for a very special night at the Toots Jazz Club!
