At just 18 years old, Maël Idris earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel and is now pursuing his Master’s studies at the prestigious JazzCampus in Basel. Winner of the Dinant Jazz Contest – Young Talents 2023 and the DownBeat Student Music Award 2024, this rising talent has studied with major figures such as Aaron Parks, Shaï Maestro, Lionel Loueke, Larry Grenadier, and Kenny Werner. First noticed as a teenager by Wynton Marsalis, he has since developed a close relationship with his mentor, South African jazz giant Nduduzo Makhathini. Tonight, he joins forces with the very best of Brussels’ jazz scene for what promises to be an exceptional evening.
