Nostalgia In Grand Place : Wayne Shorter • TRIBUTE
Jure Pukl (sax) ; Joachim Caffonnette (p) ; Robert Jukic (b) ; Pierre Hurty (dr)
Starting his career as a composer by becoming, at just 26, the musical director of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, then serving as the creative mind behind Miles Davis’s legendary Second Quintet, while recording for Blue Note a string of albums among the label’s most visionary, later as a pioneer of jazz fusion with Weather Report, and finally leading one of the most innovative quartets of the 21st century — Wayne Shorter stands as a true giant of jazz.
Celebrated for the boldness of his harmonic imagination and the poetic strength of his melodies, he remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration for musicians everywhere.
This concert pays tribute to that rich, mysterious and luminous body of work — and to “Mr Gone”, who left us two years ago.
