Nostalgia In Grand Place : Michel Petrucciani • Tribute

Mathieu De Wit (p) ; Jasen Weaver (b) ; Lieven Venken (dr)

Michel Petrucciani was the first non-American artist to sign with the prestigious Blue Note label. A unique phenomenon and a gifted comet in the history of jazz, he passed away at just 36 after a life marked by the suffering caused by osteogenesis imperfecta. Today, he remains without question one of the greatest pianists in the history of French jazz.

Beyond his remarkable technique and his almost supernatural sense of rhythm, Petrucciani was also an exceptionally prolific composer, leaving behind a rich body of work that is far too rarely performed today. It is to this music—and to the memory of this extraordinary musician—that Mathieu De Wit has chosen to pay tribute today.

Si tu veux, je peux aussi te faire une version néerlandaise un peu plus “belge/flamande naturelle” (les textes culturels en NL ont parfois un style légèrement différent de la traduction littérale).
